It’s Ok to Look Back!

I am  writing this as my cousin recently invited me on a Spa day and all I could think of were excuses as to why I shouldn’t go.   It wasn’t that I didn’t want to go, I absolutely love spending time with her, it would also be time with my “big” sister and another friend of 20 years (oh gosh we’re getting old ha ha).  Anyway why wouldn’t I want to go? The truth is I am working on a big project and I told myself that I didn’t have time to go, I’ve got targets to hit, goals to reach – you know how it is the list is always endless!

The truth is that we (independent business owners) also need time out and as my husband pointed out I deserved to go.  This got me thinking, why is it that we always think about what we have to do and how often do we take time and actually look back at just how far we’ve come and what we’ve achieved.  It’s so important that we allow ourselves a treat to reward our efforts, a pat on the back from ourselves.

I’m being consciously careful with how I spend my time at the moment but do you know what I’m going to go to that Spa Day in a few weeks time and thoroughly enjoy it without feeling guilty.  I’ll be spending time with those who not only love me and lift me up but will also want to know what I’m up to as much as I do them.  However the day won’t be filled with business talk it will be about relaxation and plenty of laughter.

So my message to you is to look back and see how far you’ve come, reward yourself with a treat (big or small) it really is ok to do so, you work hard and deserve it.
