What is the Juggle to your Hustle?
Tell me more about your business?
Mini and Mighty is a full service marketing consultancy focused exclusively on small businesses, working across all sectors. What this really means is that we come on board when a small business is starting up or just starting to focus on their marketing efforts and help them find the best marketing approach, for them. This can include setting a strategy and a marketing plan, reviewing existing marketing materials, creating new materials, writing content, doing competitor analysis and developing and running campaigns. Ultimately, I am passionate about transferring skills and empowering small businesses to be self sufficient with their own marketing. I also ensure a completely transparent approach – from what I am going to do, to the pricing. Ahead of anything else, happy clients is my benchmark of success.
What is your Hustle and Juggle story?
Once I made the commitment to myself about starting Mini and Mighty, there was no stopping me. The biggest challenge has been time (or the lack of it!) and trying to juggle everything – being a mum, wife, friend and setting up a brand new business. There has been a whole world of guilt. About everything.
One of my most hectic times so far was when I was heavily pregnant with baby number two and had quite a few projects on. At the same time we had arranged to rent our house to a tennis player for the Wimbledon Championships. Not even going into the effort of getting the house ready, it involved moving out and living like hobos for three weeks. It was a pretty crazy time, working at every available opportunity, relying on grandparents for childcare and cursing bad wifi (and the fact I couldn’t drink caffeine).
Adding another baby to our brood has definitely made the juggle even more difficult. But I genuinely love my business so I wouldn’t have it any other way. I also have an amazingly supportive husband and two gorgeous children I get to really enjoy so know I’m extremely lucky.
I have just had to be realistic about what’s achievable at each stage of my life, get my priorities sorted and look at the bigger picture so I get to enjoy the ride. I do realise this is sometimes easier said than done!
What’s your message to anyone reading this to inspire them to keep going and remain visible?
Remember to give yourself a break and some proper credit for what you’ve already achieved. It’s tough running a small business and that’s without adding children and other factors into the equation. Try not to compare yourself with others – we’re all on our own journey. If you can, find a mentor or someone who is business savvy, understands your business and who has a really positive approach. These people are invaluable as a sounding board and are there to pick you up and give you a confidence boost when you need it most.
