How long have you been doing the Hustle and Juggle?

4 years.

What is the Juggle to your Hustle?

I have two little girls, age 5 and 3 years old.

Tell me more about your business?

I’m The Mum’s Health Coach and Founder of the #MumsEmbrace Movement.

I help Mums reclaim their sense of self and transform their experience of motherhood. We work together to let go of mum guilt and low self esteem. I teach Mums how to use great nutrition to get their energy back and feel strong, emotionally and physically. I also mentor ambitious women who are interested in health and would love a project outside of parenting but want a business that works around their family commitments.

The #MumsEmbrace Philosophy underpins the way I care for myself, my clients and the way I do business.

1. Self care isn’t selfish

2. Be unapologetically you

3. It takes a village – You don’t have to do this alone. Join our Village of support here

4. Dream big!

What is your Hustle and Juggle story?

When I decided to retrain as a health coach my daughter had just turned 1. Having 2 mornings a week to myself to study was a DREAM! I can’t begin to tell you how freeing and uplifting it was to have that dedicated time for me and a project outside of parenting. Around the same time I got pregnant with daughter number 2. With all my new nutrition knowledge my second pregnancy was a lot more comfortable than the first but the mindset stuff still needed working on. It was really hard to admit that ‘being mum’ wasn’t my entire world. I had other interests so I felt like I must be an awful mum. I had my 2 mornings a week to study and rather than viewing this as a business investment it felt like ‘hobby time’. And that meant I felt guilty taking any other time for me. Things really started to get out of balance as I prioritised my baby and the house work over all of my own needs.

When my youngest daughter turned 1 I crashed, I was laid up in bed for 3 weeks with the flu and then my back went. I couldn’t move. This was my wake up call! Trying to Juggle as if I didn’t have a Hustle was destroying my health and my happiness. It took me over a year after baby no 2 arrived to realise that the things that are good for me, are also good for my family. A smiley, stress-free and balanced Mama is a waaaay better Mum than the resentful, tired and poorly woman I had become. Something had to change …

I started to say ‘yes’ to seeing friends. I mentally reallocated my health coaching practice to the ‘work’ category and added in other hobbies and fun stuff for me and I started asking for help more often. I automated and delegated as much as a could around the house. Slowly I rediscovered who I was, independent of being Mummy. Now I love helping other Mums rediscover who they are.

What’s your message to anyone reading this to inspire them to keep going and remain visible?

If you can dream it, you can do it! I know I sound like one of those annoying inspiration memes – but it’s true! It will take longer if you’re juggling, for sure, just adjust your expectations on speed, you’ll get there and it will be totally worth it. Just don’t lose sight of the dream. A lot of the mums I talk to have given up on the dream because they believe it’s not possible anymore. They get caught out by the voice in their head saying that they ‘can’t’ or they ‘aren’t allowed’ to dream big now they are a mum. Don’t listen to that voice. Show your children that motherhood can expand your world, not shrink it down to drinking cups of tea, folding laundry and watching Peppa Pig.
