How long have you been doing the Hustle and Juggle?

I always refer to myself as mother hustler because parenting is always hustle whether you are a SAHP or juggling work with kids-we are simply all just trying our best, making compromises each and every day, putting our kids first whilst trying to retain our identity and it’s never easy. I wrote a post on being a mother hustler here: Mother Hustler.

What is the Juggle to your Hustle?

I work as a full time blogger and vlogger which means having a career I am in control of. It is truly empowering- as I work to my own time and on my own terms in a flexible and remote way. I am always busy however and life is a juggle. I am strict with times I start and finish work and weekends are sacred family times. My husband and I raise our kids equally and I couldn’t do what I do without his and my folks’ support. I also have an incredible team at Honest Mum HQ too.

For me success means good health and having a choice. My favourite thing is being with my kids and this job means I can be there for them-at bedtime, on Sports Day, etc- and together with my husband, we are able to offer them a wonderful and hopefully meaningful life.

Tell me more about your business?

I started Honestmum.com, an online lifestyle magazine for parents in November 2010 after a traumatic birth at a time I felt broken and lonely.

I was a multi award winning TV director and filmmaker before then, and whilst I returned on set when Oliver turned 1, by the time I was pregnant with my second son, Xander, I was working full time as a blogger.

Now I have a small team as well as a manager and literary agent and I’m passionate about the growth of the business but most importantly helping other women find themselves and their voice after kids offering advice in how to embrace this stimulating and liberating digital sphere.

What is your Hustle and Juggle story?

Oh goodness there are too many to mention, it’s a never-ending journey, as with all. I think my post on rejection and how to deal with it might prove enlightening as people so often see successful creatives and assume the knock backs don’t happen or they rarely happen. The biggest lessons are those where I’ve failed in some way. That’s where the growth lies. The mistakes never stop me in my tracks though, I just unravel what went wrong, get back up again and try another way. ‘No’ is never the answer.

What’s your message to anyone reading this to inspire them to keep going and remain visible?
