5 Social Media Don’ts

We all make mistakes from time to time, we’re only human right but some mistakes we can at least try to avoid. Here are 5 social media don’ts to help you avoid marketing mistakes on your social media platforms.
Don’t:
- Don’t sell all the time
This is guaranteed to turn your audience off, believe it or not you should be giving your audience 80% content and value, 10% marketing message and 10% sales. Build relations and trust first and the sales will come. - Don’t forget to ask people to buy from you
Contradicting the first point it is easy to get carried away with providing good content and forget to ask people to buy from you, I’m talking from experience having made that mistake in the past. - Don’t hide behind a persona or logo
People buy from people that are honest and transparent, you cannot build likeability and trust if you hide behind something you are not. We all have logos but it’s really important to show the real personality behind the brand. - Don’t do negative rants
We all have bad days when things aren’t quite going to plan but before rushing to rant on your public Social Media Platforms take some time out or reach out to your support groups to get things off your chest. You can always use your negative experience after in a calmer light by sharing your experience and how you got through it. Ranting publicly about a competitor or bad client will not show you in a good light at all. - Don’t forget to proof read before you post
Now even though I proof read I can’t say I always spot my mistakes but I do try – so before you post do make sure you check your posts for spelling mistakes and grammar. However as I said I proof read and still make mistakes, if you miss them don’t worry someone else will definitely spot your mistakes so don’t be too upset when they point them out.
So there are your 5 don’ts, double think and double check before you post!
